小笠原を訪ねて。　2017/6/28 ~ 7/10 Visiting Ogasawara Islands.

 
小笠原諸島は東京から南に約1,000km、大小30あまりの島々からなります。一番大きい島は父島で人口は約2000人。２番目に大きい島は母島で人口は約500人。空港はどこにもなく，船で２４時間。小笠原丸が６日に一便でています。美しい海に囲まれた自然豊かな亜熱帯の楽園です。
 
Ogasawara Islands are located about 1000km south of Tokyo, consist of about 30 islands. The biggest island is called Chichijima, means father island. The population there is about 2000. The second biggest is called Hahajima, means mother island. The population is about 500. There is no airport so only way to go there is by Ship. Takes 24 hours. Semi tropical islands surrounded by the beautiful sea.

 
6/29,　竹芝発、30, 父島着。

 
 
 
かねてから行きたかった小笠原へ。6/28，朝から曇天。浜松町に着く頃には雨が降り出し，カメラ機材など濡れない様に急いで竹芝桟橋に行きました。船は朝11:00定刻出航。これから父島まで24時間の船旅です。
 
We decided to go to Ogasawara Islands where we wanted to go for a long time. 6/28, cloudy in the morning. When we arrived at the nearest station to the port, it stared to rain. We went in a hurry so that our camera materials won't get wet. The ship left the Takeshiba Port at 11:00 on time. It will take 24 hours to go to the Chichijima, which means the father Island. The biggest island in Ogasawara.
 

船から桟橋、とその後ろの東京の高層ビルが雨に煙って見えました。
The ship left the port and we could see skyscrapers in Tokyo behind the port.
 

船はゆっくりと進み，レインボーブリッジの下を通り抜けていきました。
The ship passed under the Rainbow Bridge, a beautiful suspension bridge crossing the Tokyo Bay.
 

船の中で昼食と，夕食と、朝食を食べた頃，小笠原が近づいて来て、カツオドリが船の周りを飛び始めました。目の周りが青いのが雄、白いのが雌だそうです。こちらはメスです。
 
　We ate lunch, dinner and breakfasting the ship. When the ship came closer to the Ogasawara Islands, Brown Booby started to follow the ship. This is female because the color around the eyes is white, not blue.
 

こちらは雄です。This is male because the color around the eyes is blue.
 

ようやっと父島の二見港が見えて来ました。中央の白っぽいところが港の建物です。
Finally we could see the Futami Port in Chichijima. The white part in the photo is the buildings in the port.
 

船はゆっくり湾に入っていきます。The ship enters the Bay towards the Futami Port slowly.
 

二見港です。This is Futami Port.
 

桟橋です。とうとう小笠原です。幸い全く船酔いしませんでした。
We arrived Ogasawara. Fortunately, I didn't get sea shock at all. I was very worried about it.
 
桟橋には,宿のお姉さんと，秀人の姪の昌恵ちゃんが昇君をつれて、迎えに来てくれていました。まずは宿へ。宿は「ブーゲン」。キッチン、バストイレ付きのコンドミニアム形式で、広くて快適でした。その後昌恵ちゃんがスーパーや町を案内して、その後，夕日が美しいウェザーステーションまで送ってくれました。
　
At the port, a lady from the inn and Masae, the niece of Hideto, came to see us with her son, Sho. We went to the condominium where we are going to stay first. Then Masae took us for shopping then the Weather station, where very famous for sunset.
 

ウェザーステーションから。父島の海です。長い船旅から解放されてやっと小笠原に来た事を実感しました。これから約２週間の小笠原の旅の始まりです。
 
The sea of Ogasawara. Very beautiful. Seeing this view, we felt that we arrived at Ogasawara, the beginning of our wonderful two weeks holiday.
 

さてここから，三日月山までゆっくり歩いて３０分ぐらい、のはず。船ではずっとゴロゴロしていたので、足慣らしに行く事にしました。道は林の中でしたが，着いたばかりと言う事もあって正直かなり暑かったです。
　
　From the weather station, we decided to walk to Mikazuki Mountain to stretch our body. The route was in the wood but we felt very very hot. Probably we just arrived at this tropical island from my city, which was still in the rainy season.
 

ムニンヒメツバキと言って小笠原の固有種です。今が花盛りでした。
This is a kind of Camellia, endemic in Ogasawara. It was full blooming everywhere.
 

三日月山ヘ行く途中の景色です。手前が父島。海の向こうはもうとなりの島，兄島です。
On the way to Mikazuki Mountain. The island over the sea is different island. Anijima, means brother Island.
 

三日月山山頂からの眺め。写真中央にさっき着いたばかりの小笠原丸が。手前が小笠原で一番大きい大村。左上の海の向こうは直ぐ隣の兄島です。さすがに夕方になると涼しいです。
　暗くならないうちに宿に戻り，この日はスーパーで買った小笠原近海で捕れた赤尾アジとキハダマグロの刺身を食べました。ものすごくおいしくて驚きました。こうして幸せなうちに小笠原到着一日目は終わりました。
 
The view from Mikazuki Mountain. In the center, you can see Ogasawara-maru, the ship on which we just arrived today. Before get dark, we went back to the condominium. The dinner was gorgeous. Sashimi, which was brought from the Ogasawara sea. It was very, very delicious. Like this, the first day in Ogasawara was over happily.
 
 
 
6/30 長崎展望台から電信山線歩道を通って奥村へ。
 

父島の地図。赤い四角が私たちが訪ねたところです。
 

この日は、とても景色がいいと言われている父島北部のトレイルを歩く事にしました。
朝、昌恵ちゃんに長崎展望台まで送ってもらい歩き始めました。
 
This day we decided to walk along the trail on the north side of Chichi-jima,where the view from there is very beautiful. We started to walk from Nagasaki observatory.

しばらく歩くと南側に大村の集落と二見港が見えて来ました。
The view of Oomura village and Futami Port.
 

テリハハマボウ。朝花が開くときは黄色。日が昇るにつれて花が赤みを帯夕方が赤くなって散るのだそうです。小笠原の固有種だそうです。
Endemic in Ogasawara. In the morning, the color of this flower is yellow. The flower gradually become reddish then in the evening, the color become red and fall.
 

メジロです。珍しくはないのですが，あまり人を怖がらずかなり近くまで来ます。White eyes. They come near us very often.
 

眺めはすばらしいですが，見晴らしがいい分日陰が少なく，本当に暑かったです。
The view was wonderful but it was really hot.
 

海の青さが眼にしみるほど美しい景色が続きます。The color of the sea is very blue and beautiful.
 

南米に行った時, この花にハチドリがたくさん来ていました。
Hummingbirds love this flower but obviously no hummingbirds here.
 
約２kmほど歩いて奥村に着くともう夕方でした。美しい景色をたくさん見て充実した一日でした。この日は昌恵ちゃんの家で夕食をごちそうになりました。
We walked probably only 2 km, but already it was evening. It was a satisfying day.
 
 
7/1 車で父島巡り。
 
この日は，和志さん（昌恵ちゃんのご主人）が私たちのために車を借りてくれたので，ドライブ＋ハイキングディでした。
 

まず始めにいったのは旭山。 First we went to Mt. Asahi.
 

トレイルを歩いているとウグイスがあちこちに。小笠原固有種のハシナガウグイスです。本土のものより一回り小さく嘴が長いです。何より殆ど人を怖がらないのでかなり近くに来ます。あちこちで何度も見かけたのですが，木立の中で暗いのと動きが速いのとで中々うまく写真に撮れませんでした。
 
While walking on the trail, we saw Japanese Bush Warbler here and there. Endemic in Ogasawara. They aren't afraid of people so we could see then just in front of us.

そろそろ昼時。昌恵ちゃんの子供たちが扇浦海岸でカヌーレースの練習をすると聞いていたので見に行きました。
We had heard that Masae's boys were going to practice for Canoe race so we decided to watch it.
 

二番手でこいでいるのが次男の潤君。レース用のカヌーで練習するのはこれが初めてだそうです。
Her second son, Jun is rowing on the second position.
 

三番手でこいでいるのが長男の樹君。皆真剣です。
Her first son, Tatsuki is rowing on the third position. They are all very serious.
 

その後，近くのコペペ海岸でお昼にしました。ここもまたきれいなビーチです。
Then we had lunch at Kopepe beach.
 

島巡り後半は，まず中央山から。
In the afternoon, we restarted the island tour and visited Mt. Chuo.
 

グリーンアノール。小笠原のあちこちで見られますが，外来種で，小笠原の固有種が脅かされているそうです。
 

中央山からの眺め。右端に展望台が見えますがここが父島最高峰。326m。でもこちらの山には名前はないそうです。

中央山の後は小湊海岸に降りました。ここでは父島で数少ない川が海に流れ込んでいて，緩やかに流れる川縁の景色が本当に美しかったです。さすがにこの時間になると多少涼しくなりました。
 
After My.Chuo, went down to Kiminato Beach.　There are not many rivers in Chichijima. The biggest one flow into the sea at Kominato beach. In the evening it became a bit cooler.
 

向こう岸の丘が映るほど、河口付近の八つ瀬川の流れは穏やかです。
Tha Yatsuse River flows calmly so the hill on the other side was reflect ed on the river.
 

小湊海岸は枕状溶岩の海食崖が見られる事で有名です。ここが火山活動で出来た島だと言う事が分かります。
This beach is famous for pillow lava. It shows that these island were formed by volcanic activity.

海岸で蝶をたくさん見かけました。
We saw butterfly on the beach.
 

八つ瀬川河口付近の景色。この時間になると人も殆ど居なくて実に静か。夕方の光の中でとてもきれいでした。
The estuary of the Yatusse in the evening, very beautiful and quiet.

We could see the beautiful pattern of pillow lava here also.
 
明日は早朝の船で母島へ。
 
7/2 早朝の船で母島へ。

しばし父島を離れて母島へ。船は朝７時半出航。和志さんが昇君と見送りに来てくれました。

小笠原の旅。 2017/6/28 ～ 7/10 Visiting Ogasawara islands
 

母島は父島の南約５０km。船で約２時間。朝７時半に船は出港し、９時半に母島に着きます。人口約500人の静かな島です。
Haha-jima is located about 50 km south of Chichi-jima. It takes about 2 hours by ship. The population of Haha-jima is about 500.
 
7/2 母島へ。　To Haha-jima　　
.

父島を出港すると間も無く南島が現れ、その向こうにこれから向かう母島が青いシルエットとなって見えました。
Soon after leaving Chichijima, we could see Minami-jima, South Island, which has very unique vegetation and is strictly protected. And beyond the South Island we could see the blue silhouette of Haha-lima, where we are going to.
 

程なく母島が見えてきて、船は沖港に入って行きます。
The ship enters the Port Oki.
 

元地の集落が見えてきました。
We could see the Motoji colony. In this island only this area people are living.
 
この日はまず宿に落ち着き、それから近場を散策して過ごしました。
 
7/3, 船木山遊歩道散策。その後御幸之浜へ。
Walk along the Funaki trail, then went Miyuki Beach.
 

赤字で書かれたところが今回訪ねたところです。

この日はレンタカー屋さんに行き、メグロが見られるという船木山の遊歩道へ。レンタカーは和志さんが借りておいてくれました。
This day, first we went to rent a car, then went to walk Funakiyama trail.
 

遊歩道は、ガジュマルやいろいろな木に覆われていて、それなりに涼しかった（？）です。今回の旅の目的のメグロは時々見かけ、いきなり目の前に現れたりしましたが、暗いのと動きが早いのとでとても写真に撮れるほどではありませんでした。終点の滝は水はすっかり枯れていていました。この暑さではね～。
実は今年は小笠原は水不足で、大変だったのだそうです。それがほんの１、２週間ほど前に大雨が降り、母島では、ほぼ空だったダムはあっという間にいっぱいになったそうです。
 
It was hot but the trail was covered with trees so the strong sunshine was almost cut and wasn't very hot. The guide book said that we might be able to see Bonnie Honeyeater. Actually our purpose to visit Ogasawara is to see this birds, living only in only in Haha-jima.
We saw the birds but the trail. They came very close to us but it was rather dark in the forest and they moved quickly. So we couldn't take any good shot.
 

午後は御幸之浜に行き、海を見下ろす東屋でまずお昼。それから浜沿いの遊歩道を歩きました。ひょろっと伸びているのはリュウゼツランの花です。
After Funakiyama, we went to Miyuki beach to have lunch. Then walked the trail along the beach.
 

御幸之浜の海です。水が透き通って海のそこがよく見えました。遊歩道の終点あたりでとうとうメグロをじっくり見ることができました。
The sea was blue and the water was really clean. Very quiet and peaceful. Finally we could see the honeyeater very well at the end of this trail.
 
7/4 北港、大沢海岸、北村小学校。　North port, Oisawa beach, Kitamura primary school.
 
この日は宿から一路北へ。道はよく整備されていて、海はあくまでも青く、眺めは抜群でした。
 

ははじま丸が通っていくのが見えました。
The ship is coming to Haha-jima from Chichi-lima. We came this island on this ship.
 

ゴールデンシャワー。タイの国花だそうです。　Colden Shower tree. The national flower in Thailand.
 

六本指地蔵。Six-finger Jizo.
 

母島の中央を南北に走る道の最北端。北港です。ここからメグロを求めて大沢海岸方面に歩きました。
Port Kita. The north end of the road in Haha-Lima. We walked along the trail toward Ooosawa Beach looking for the Bonin honeyeater.
 

トレイルはガジュマルの木が生い茂りとてもいい雰囲気でした。
The trail was in the forest of Banyan tree. The sun light coming through the trees was beautiful.
 

まず出会ったのはメジロ。大口を開けているのが子供。その口に餌を入れているのが親。なんだか親が食われそうな勢いでした。

メグロです。やっとまともな写真が撮れました。ここのメグロは好奇心旺盛でかなり近くまで寄ってきます。いきなり目の前に来たりで、慌ててピントを合わせようとするのですが、何しろ神出鬼没で難しいです。
Honeyeater. They are very curious about us and come very close to us. It was difficult to take the photo of the birds come too close.
 

このトレイルは海沿いの崖で、崖に生えるガジュマルの木がそれほど高くなくて比較的明るかったので、写真は撮りやすかったです。

 
 
 
 
じっくりトレイルを歩き、北高に戻り、休憩所でお昼。来た時には人っ子一人いなかったのに、なんと休憩所のテーブルはほぼ満席。10人近い人を集落以外で見たのは初めてでした。結構地元の人に人気のようです。
When we came back to the North Port, there were 7,8 people relaxing at the resting area. It was the first time to see so many people except the colony. Probably this place is popular for people living there.
 

ここは北村小学校跡。戦前はここには北村集落があり600人ほどが暮らしていたが、（今の母島に人口は500人ぐらい）1944に強制疎開により廃村。小学校も廃校。戦後７０年余りで、かろうじてトポスに覆われた門柱が残っていましたが、中は巨大なガジュマルの森。学校の面影はかけらもありませんでした。
Entrance of Kitamura Primary school. The school was open in 1844. Before the war, about 600 people, which is more than the current whole population of haha-jima were living. But 1944, just before the war end they were force to move to other islands. The colony and school was abolished. Now only a part of the gate completely covered with ivies is left. Inside was just forest of giant banyan trees and no trace of school.
 
この後は一路、宿に戻りました。
 
7/5 南崎、小富士。
South part of Haha-jima, Cape South and Kofuji, means small mt.Fuji.
 

南崎遊歩道入口です。小富士まで歩いて１時間ぐらいでしょうか。

タコの木。沖縄ではアダンと言います。メグロは、この実が大好きです。
Pandanus tree and it's fruits. Honeyeater loves this fruits.
 

なんとラッキーなことに、メグロが目の前の木の実を食べているところに遭遇しました。
Luckily we could see the honeyeater eating the fruit.
 

本当に幸運でした。住んでいる人はよく見かけると言いますが、私たち旅人がこんな場面に遭遇することはごく稀です。

 
We were really lucky to be able to see this Sean.
 

トレイルは小富士まで続いています。小富士からの眺め。ここの海が一番綺麗だったような気がします。
The south end of this trail is Kofuji. The view from Kofuji was really beautiful.

この後は水場に戻り、お昼にし、ゆっくり水場に来るメグロ鑑賞。はるばる歩いてトレイル入口に戻り、帰りがけ前日メグロがよく見れた御幸之浜によって帰りました。
 
7/6 再び南崎。　Again Cape South.
翌日は父島に戻るので、いろいろ考えて一番メグロが見やすい南崎に行くことにしました。このトレイルのほぼ終点に、水場があり、水盤に様々な鳥たちが来るのです。水はほとんどなかったのでペットボトルに入れて担いで持って行くことにしました。
It was the last day to be able to walk around, so we decide to visit the cape South, where there is a basin for birds and bands are coming. When we went there the day before the water wasn't left enough. So we brought a big bottle of water for them.
 

 
7/７　鮫が崎、そして父島へ。　Walk aound near the colony and port, then go back to Chichi-jima. 

泊まった宿です。木造りで中の装飾がモダンでおしゃれです。The place we stayed.　It was a nice place.
 

宿の入り口。綺麗でいいところでした。
 

船の出航まで時間があったので近くの鮫が崎まで。沖港です。
We have time for the departure of the ship, we walked around near places. Port Oki from an observatory.
 

クサトベラです。花の形が面白いです。The shape of flower os interesting.
 

この花になんとメジロが来ました。　Surisingly, white eye came to this flower.
 

午後２時、出航です。　　At 2:00 p.m. we left Haha-jima. Bye bye Haha-Lima. A wonderful place to stay.

7/7 再び父島です。 Again came back to Chichi-JIma.
 

小笠原の海は本当に透明で美しいです。
　The sea in Ogasawa is transparent and really beautiful.
 

花も咲きます。　Hibiscus is everywhere.
 

吉田家農園。パッションフルーツが鈴なり。モデルは吉田家の母ちゃん、昌恵ちゃんと３男の昇くん。
Yoshida Family farm. Passion fruits in now harvest time.
 

農園にも花、花。　
 

翌日はもう島を離れるので、昌恵ちゃんが島をいろいろ案内してくれました。小港海岸から中山峠へ。
Since we are leaving the next day, Masae took us to various places in Chichi-jima. At the entrance of the rout to go up to Nakayama Pass.

たまたま登って来た人が写真を撮ってくれました。
We didn't see anybody except this person who took the photo of us together.

これはムニンヒメツバキと言って、小笠原の固有種です。今が花盛りで真っ白な花をたくさんつけていてそれはそれは綺麗でした。
This flower is endemic in this island but I don't know the English name. The meaning of the name is Ogasawara little pretty camellia.
Now is the season of this flower and we could see them every where in the Islands.
 

こちらも小笠原の固有種で、オガサワラハシナガウグイス。嘴が長く本土の鶯よりだいぶ小ぶりです。
Subspecies of Japanese Bush Warbler. Endemic intros area. It has longer beak and is smaller than ordinary Japanese Bush Warbler.
 

人懐こいというか、人を怖がらないというか、かなり近くまで平気で来ます。
They aren't afraid of people and come very close to us. Actually there is no snakes in these islands, and also not many humans, so very safe for birds.
 

ゴールデンシャワー。Golden Shower is now full blooming.
 

植物園にはこんな木も。ソーセージの木だそうです。In the botanical garden.
 

この日の最後は宮の浜に行きましたWe went to Miyanohanma, he last place we visit this day.
 

この日は吉田家でおでんをご馳走になりました。和志さんの手料理です。このほかお刺身に、焼き魚、煮物。すごいご馳走でした。この島は本当にさしみが美味しいです。
This day, we had dinner at Yoshida's house. Kazuyuki cooked Odeon for us and it was really delicious. Also Sashimi was very tasty.
 

大神山公園から二見港。あと何時間かするともうこの船に乗って小笠原にさようならです。

最後の最後にアカガシラカラスバトを見ました。大神山公園の山頂から少し降りた木陰でお昼と食べたあと、何気なく小道を歩いてふと林の中を見たら、いました。アカガシラカラスバトなんてラッキー。何度か探し歩いたのですがなかなか会えませんでした。この子も固有種です。
Finally we could see this Red-headed Japanese Wood Pigeon. We were eating lunch, then I walked a little bit without any intention and I found it in the bush by chance. We were very lucky. Also endemic.
 

船は３時半出港。港の待合室で。昌恵ちゃんが私たち２人にレイを作ってくれました。残念、この植物の名前忘れてしまいました。そういえば、母島へ発つ時、この草の葉で包んで蒸したお餅を持たせてくれました。すごく美味しかったです。
　The ship leave at 3:00. At the waiting room of thew port.　The rays on our neck, Masae made them for us.
 

みんなで見送ってくれました。The family came to see us off.
 

出港を太鼓で送ってくれます。To say good^by to us, they performed Taiko.
 

港で。　 At the port, they wave their hand till we can't see them.
 

小笠原では、このレイを、船が港を出るときに海に投げるとまたこの島に帰って来られるのだそうです。でも私たちはもったいなくて投げませんでした。
 

たくさんの漁船や釣り船が湾の外まで見送りに来ていました。そしてなんとのっち田人たちが次々と水に飛び込んだのです。
 

この日の夜食。帰り際にスーパーで買ったお刺身が実に美味しかったです。あとは前の日に作っておいたすしご飯と野菜の煮物でした。これから約２４時間の船旅です。
This is the dinner of this day. I bought Sashimi at the supermarket before on board. And sushi rice and some vegetable. It was gorgeous dinner. It will take 24 hour to go back to Tokyo.
 

メジロです。船に乗る少し前に公園でのんびりしていたら目の前の浜木綿の花に来ました。
White-eye. In a park near the port.
