　Visiting Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica

すみません、とうとうトリニダード-５です。This is still Trinidad.

山から降りて、1日休憩。トリニダードもあと2日。この日は早朝、イェレッテに。お昼はアパートに戻って休憩、その後カロニ湿原に行きました。ここはトリニダードの国鳥であるショウジョウトキの群れが見られるところで、このためにこの島を訪れる人も多いそうです。
After coming back to our apartment we had one day rest then went to Caron swamp, where we can see hundreds of hundreds of Scarlet Ibis, which id national bird of Trinidad Tobago. Many people come this island to see them.

　私たちのドライバーのウェンデルと、船着き場で。これからトキを見に船で湿原を行きます。ウエンデルは私たちがこの島にいる間、ずっとあちこち送り迎えしてくれました。船着き場ではかなり雨が降っていたのでしばらく待ちました。

　With our driver, Wendell. While we were in this island, he took us everywhere. Very nice person and reliable. We were very happy with him.　It was raining when we arrived at the pier so we had to wait for a while.

湿地の中の水路を船で行きます。We go waterway surrounded by the tropical bush by boat.

水路は深いジャングルの中。観光ボートとすれ違いました。The waterway is in the Juangle. Another sightseeing boat came.

実は私たちはエイサーが自分たちのツアー用にチャーターしたボートに乗せてもらえました。ウェンデルが交渉してくれたようです。おかげで鳥ガイド付きでしかもボートに乗っていたのは１０人程度。すごくラッキーでした。おかげでこんな鳥も見られました。ノドグロコウカンチョウというようです。
Lucky we could get on a boat which was chartered by ASA wright nature canter for their tourists. Wendell asked them to let us go with them. All tourists were all birdwatchers with guid. They could find bird like this, Red-capped cardinal.

マングローブの森を行きます。　奥の方に時々トキを見かけました。Going though the jungle of mangrove。 We sometimes saw Ibis in the jungle.

　こんな光景にも何度か会いました。　We saw herons.

この日は何度かスコールにあい、雨がひどくなるとボートを覆えるくらいの大きなシートの下に皆入ってしのぎました。やっと雨が上がり、ボートは少し広いところに出ました。どうやらこのあたりがトキが住んでいる島のようです。
　Sometimes it rained heavily. When we arrived at the wide area in the swamp、it almost stopped. We waited the ibis would come back to their home in islands there.

突然彼方から数羽の群れが来たかと思うと後から後から飛んで来ました。
　First several Scarlet Ibis came then hundreds of hundreds came.

見事としか言いようがありません。It was fantastic!

　日が暮れるまで写真を撮りました。本当に圧巻でした。We took photos till the sunset. It was amazing.

さてこの日はアパートに帰って遅い夕食となりました。翌日はウェンデルにカワセミを見に連れて行ってもらうことにしました。

We went back to our apartment and had late dinner. Next day, Wendell will take us to see kingfisher.

トリニダード-6 、トリニダード島最後の日です。
Trinidad-6. The last day in Trinidad Island.

この日はウエンデルの案内で、体調46cmのカワセミを探しに行きました。
最初に行ったのはゴルフコースの真ん中を流れる川べり。ナンベイタゲリがワサワサいました。
On this day we went to see Ringed Kingfisher. Wendell took us some points where possibly we could see the Kingfisher.
The first place we went was the riverside which runs in the middle go a golf course.There we saw a lot of Southern Lapwing.

　こちらはクロエリセイタカシギ。　Black-necked Stilt 　

　こちらはコアシシギ。Lesser Yellow legs

こちらはササゴイ。Striated heron.

そしてアメリカイソシギ。ゴルフ場にずいぶん色々いるものですがまだまだいます。
Spotted Sandpiper. We saw more along this river in this golf course.

ゴマダラタイランチョウ。可愛いですね～。Pied Water Tyrant, very cute.

この子はシロガシラタイランチョウ。White-headed marsh Tyrant

ちょっと場所を変えて、この子はナンベイレンカク。一緒にいるのでカップルかと思ったらどうも親子のようです。
Wendell took us to another place looking for Kingfisher, where we saw a lot of other water birds. This is Wattled Jacana. First we thought they were couple because they were together but probably Father and child.

すごい足ですよね。Look at these legs. So long!

アメリカムラサキバン。この子の足の大きさもびっくりです。American purple gallinule.Very big feet.

　コモンガリニュー。よく似ているので最初は同じファイルに入れていました。

Common Gallenulle. 　I was mixed up some birds because they looked like each other for me so I asked wendell which is which by mail. He responded me very quickly so now I can distinguish them.

ウエンデルは私たちの期待に応えるべくあちこち連れて行ってくれましたが、探すと意外にいないもので、一番よく見かけるというアパートの近くのクリケット場に戻ってきました。うえんですと記念写真。
Wendell took us many places to meet our expectation, but it is difficult to see it when we look for it. We came back to the first place near our apartment where he said the possibility is high. With him.

そして彼は正しかったのです。本当にすぐ目の前の枝にいました。クビワヤマセミ, メスです。体長４３～４６cm. 確かに大きいです。
He was right. He pointed a direction. It was on a blanch very close to us. Wronged Kingfisher, female. The size is from 43~46cm.

　目の前であっちの枝からこちの枝へ。またまた向こうの枝へと３０分ぐらいいてくれました。

She flied from one blanch to another, and the another. She stayed almost 30 minutes.

最後には止まった枝にスポットライトまで当たりました。大満足です。
Finnally, the sun light came onto her. We were very happy. Wendell is great!!!

翌日早朝空港に向かいました。朝はすごい車のラッシュです。On the road to go to the airport. Morning traffic Jam.

道沿いのお店。バーガーキングにスーパーです。Along the way to go to the airport.

これが空港。Trinidad Airport.

カリビアン航空でトバゴへ。Go to Tobago island by Caribbean Airline.　

乗っている時間はたった２５分ですが、２時間以上前には行かないといけません。地図の上のCaroni Swampが前日トキを見に行ったところです。It takes only 25minutes but we have to go there a least 2 hours ahead.

この奥の方の市街地が私たちが泊まっていた旧首都のセントジョセフあたりでしょうか。
Probably, the city area behind the field will be St Joseph、where we stayed.

そしてこれがカロニ湿原。真ん中あたりの丸い島のどれかが、ショウジョウトキたちがたくさんいた島なのでしょう。
This is Caron Swamp. Maybe one of the rounds island in the middle will be the home of the scarlet Ibis.
