ではオーストラリアの旅、その１です。
Bird watching tour part-1

 
 

今回の旅はオーストラリア、ケアンズから入って、北上、キングフィッシャーパークロッジとアサートン高原のチェンバーズロッジを訪ねました。
This time we flew to Cairns and visited Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge and Chambers Wildlife Rainforest Lodges in Atherton Highland.
 
 

　今回、初めてLCCのジェットスター、初めて成田第３ターミナルを使いました。成田第３ターミナルは聞いていた通り作りは簡素で、チャックインカウンターの前はびっくりするほど長い行列ができていましたが、絶対数はそれほど多くなかったのでしょう、それなりに列は進み手荷物検査もあまり待たずにゲートに進めました。強いて言えば送った荷物を第２ターミナルで受け取って、はるばる持っていかなければならないところがちょっと不便でした。
１１月２９日夜８時発、１１月３０日ケアンズ朝４時４０分着ほとんど時間通り。オーストラリアは荷物の持ち込みが厳しいと聞いていたので、薬のリストも準備し、食品は最小限にし、申告有りの列に並びましたが、口頭申告だけでほとんどの人がどんどん進み、６時には入国できました。早速レンタカーのカウンターに行き、車を借りてまず、途中の街でスーパーに寄って食料品を買い込み、その後キングキングフィッシャーパークロッジに向かいました。
　今回の旅は秀人の従姉妹さんの登志江さんも一緒に行きました。
 
This time we used Jester airline. It's a LCC airline but has direct flight to Cairns. It took only 7 and half hours to get there, very convenient. We rent a car at the airport, did shopping at Woolworth and headed to the lodge. This time, Toshie, a cousin of Hideto went together.

ケアンズから北に向かう途中の海岸線で。

目的地のキングフィッシャーパークロッジには１０時過ぎに着いてしまいました。チェックインは３時からなので　”すいませんちょっと早く着いちゃったんですけど...”と言ったら本当に早いわねと言われましたが、気持ちよく冷蔵庫に買った品物入れさせてくれました。お昼前には掃除が終わったので、荷物を運び入れてひと段落。
Actually, we arrived at Cairns at 4:00a.m., didn't take much time to pass the immigration or shopping, so we arrived at the lodge around 10:00 a.m. Check-in is from 2:00 p.m., so we arrived tooooo early but they kindly let us use the fridge to keep the ingredient we bought, and could enter the room before noon.
 

部屋の前の中庭にはこんな子たちがスズメのごとく群れていました。なんて素晴らしいんでしょう！
In the garden in front of the room, we could see them a lot. How wonderful!!!
 
 

そうこうするうちにお隣の部屋の人がこの子を発見してくれました。なんとお目当の白尾ラケットカワセミです。近すぎて画面の中に入れるのが大変でした。
 

Meanwhile another guest let us know, the kingfisher we had been longing for seeing, is in the garden. It was too close and was difficult to put it all in the camera.

その後ロッジの裏の果樹園に行くと、
After that we went to the orchard in the backyard.
 

スターフルーツがたわわに生っていて、
There was a big tree of Carambola with full of fruits,
 

こんな花が咲いていて、
Flowers are blooming,
 

ライチの巨大な木があり、こちらもライチの実がどっさり。しかもその下には、
Litchi tree has unbelievable amount of fruits,
 

なんとノドグロヤイロチョウです。目的の子その２です。どうやら巣材を運んでいるようです。
And we saw Noisy Pitta, which is the second on our bird list, under the tree.
 

12/1、 この日はロッジのCarolにガイドを頼んで1日探鳥。まず、ロッジから１０分ぐらいの沼地に行きました。

 
 
12/1 We asked Carol to be our guide for a day. First we went to a swamp land near the lodge.

 

赤いのは多分水草。沼の向こうの家は多分個人宅。この辺りの農場の持ち主なのでしょう。
The red part on the pond is water plants, probably.
 

この子はComb-crested Jacanaと言います。ここで卵を温めているのですが、なんとここは水草の上です。
Comb-crested Jacana. It's warming eggs or ... protecting them from the heat? Surprisingly it is on the water plants...
 

セアカオーストラリアムシクイ（Red-backed Fairy-wren）のオスです。その名の通り赤い背中がチャーミングです。

この子はメス。 Female.
 
さらに奥に進んで行くと、 We went further,
 

モリショウビン（Forest Kingfisher)が高～い木の上にいました。
Two Forest kingfishers were on the top of a tall tree.
 
 

さらに進んで川沿いの薄暗いところでしばらく待つと、
We went further and were waiting for a little kingfisher in a dark area along the river.
 

なんとヒメミツユビカワセミが突然現れました。しかも２羽。オスは獲ってきたばかりの魚をメスに差し出します。
Suddenly it appeared from nowhere. Not only one! Two!!! The male offers fish to female.
 

あっさりあげるかと思いきや、しばらく引っ張り合いをして、

 
We expect male would give it her soon but they were pulling each other for a while...
 

でも結局最後はあげました。めでたしめでたし。Carolが、こんなシーンが見られるなんて本当にラッキーだと言っていました。
Finally male gave it to her. Carol told us it's very rare to be able to see such scene, so we were very lucky.
 
　次の場所はずっと山奥で、ニワシドリ（Bowerbird)を見に行きました。ニワシドリの種は、オスはメスの気を魅くために立派なオブジェを作り、綺麗な色のついた葉や石などでその前を飾ることで有名な鳥だそうです。鳥によって黄色いものを集めたり赤いものを集めたりするのだそうです。かれこれ一時間も車で走ったでしょうか。それからさらにしばらく山道を歩き、飾りのあるところにたどり着きました。残念ながら肝心の子は見られなかったので、一度道に戻ってここでティータイム。Carol手作りのクッキーと温かいお茶をご馳走になりました。
Next we went to see bowerbird. This is a special bird which makes a elaborate display to attract female. We could see them but they were in the dark and was very difficult to recognize even the shape of it. Then we had morning tea. Carol treated us with her home-made cokkies. It was really delicious.
 
 

その後再び飾りのあるところに行きましたが、肝心の鳥は暗いところにいてほとんど見えませんでした。代わりに、
 

ハイイロオウギビタキ（Gray Fantail ）というしっぽを扇のように広げる子をたくさん見ました。でも動きが早くて写真に取るのは難しかったです。
There we saw Gray Fantail. They are really cute but moved very quickly so it was very difficult to take photos.
 


帰る途中で綺麗な蝶や、
On the way back to the lodge for lunch, we saw beautiful butterfly, which is a male Cairns Birdwing. The female is larger than male and is Australia's biggest butterfly. Carol told me.
 


ミミグロネコメドリ（Spotted Catbird)に会いました。

ここで一旦宿に戻ってお昼。At the lodge had lunch and rest for a while.
 
午後はまず, ミツスイ（Honeyeater）がくるというご近所さんの庭に。でも午後ではもう蜜が終わっているのでとりあえず場所を教えていただき次の場所、Mt. Molly の村へへ。
In the afternoon, first we visited Carol's neighbors house, where a big flower tree which Honeyeaters love very much. It was a bit too late because all honey will be dried in the afternoon. So we remembered the place and went to the next place, Mt Molloy..
 

村の大通り沿いの木にいました。アオツラミツスイ（Blue-faced Honeyeater)です。

近すぎてうまくカメラに収まりません。It was too close and couldn't take the whole.

 
 
次はAbattoir Swamp, という湿地帯です。ここではウロコミツスイ（Brown-backed Honeyeater）が沼の上の木のえだに巣を作っているということです。
Next, we went to Abattoir Swamp, where Brown-backed Honeyeaters are having nest. They make their nest under a thin branch on the water to protect it from snake or other enemies.
 

カップルで巣の中にいる子供にせっせと餌を運んでいました。
Mother and father came to feed their chicks again and again.
 

もっともっとゆっくりしたいところですが、まだまだ次があります。
Chicks are so cute. We wanted to stay more but there are still places to go.
 

駐車場まで戻るとなんとアオバネワライカワセミです。なんてラッキー！
At the car park, we saw Blue-winged Kookaburra. How lucky we are again!
 
つぎはCarol のお友達の家の近くのユーカリの木にハゴロモインコ（Red-winged Parot)が鈴なり。でも逆光で、枝も多くてなかなかうまく写真は撮れませんでした。なんとか見られたのがこのぐらいです。
Another place near Carol's friend house. A lot of Red-winged Parots were there. Unfortunately, there were a lot of twigs in front of the birds and it was towards the sun. So it was very difficult to take photos but some we succeeded.

そこへメスがやってきました。Female came.
 

でこちらは別のメス。Another female.
 
　次は小学校です。門には”Birdwatchers wekcomed."と書かれていました。誰でも中に入って見学していいそうです。
 
ここで午後ティー。目の前の木にはゴシキセイガイインコがわさわさ。
Then we went to a primary school in Mt Molloy. At the gate there was a signboard, on it, written "Birdwatchers are welcomed". How generous they are! There we had afternoon tea. Carol's cookies and tea made us regain energy. Rainbow Lorikeets were on the tree in from of us.
 

びっくりするほど艶やかでしょう？ How colouful they are!

 
 
校庭の片隅には
 

これが”ニワシドリ”が作るオブジェというかデコレーションです。小枝を集めてドームを作ったのも、白い石を敷き詰めたのも、赤いものを並べたのも皆オオニワシドリ(Great Bowerbird)。こんなオブジェが小学校の庭にいくつかありました。メスが飾りを気に入って中に入ってくれが契約成立（？）
At the corner of the school ground, there were some structures built by Bowerbird. It was well decorated. The owner collect everything by himself one by one, stones, leaves some plastics and so on. Depend on the bird, they like yellow or red ones. This owner likes red stuff and displayed them in from of the structure.
 

こちらがオオニワシドリです。もちろんどの子がどれを作ったかは、今はその季節ではないのでわかりません。
This is Great Bowerbird, who builds this type of structure.
 


校庭を歩いていたホオアオサメクサインコ(Pale-headed Rosella).よくわからない名前ですが綺麗なインコでした。
Pale-headed Rosella were picking some food on the ground.
 
最後に学校の中で餌付けを試みているライチョウバト。背生息環境が変わったり猫におそわれたりでだんだん数が減少しているそうです。
Squatter Pigeon, getting rarer in Mt Molloy, mainly due to habitat change and predation by cats, Carol said.
 

不思議な不思議なカポック（Kapok Tree）の木を見て、(実がはじけると中から棉のような繊維が出てくるので、かつては集めてクッションなどに入れたそうです。）
Kapok Tree. When it open completely, cotton-like stuff comes out. We can use it in stead of cotton...
 

夕日に照りはえるメガネコウライウグイス（Figbird)に見送られながら帰路につきました。長い長い素晴らしい1日でした。Carolによるとこの日1日だけで55種見たのだそうです。もちろん私たちが認識できたのはその半分でしょう。でも、キングフィッシャーパーク周辺はすごいところです。

Just before leaving the school, we saw Figbird on a tree with a lot of red flowers. It was beautiful receiving the evening sunlight.
Later Carol gave us the list of the bird which we saw. According to it, we had seen 55 species, and more if includes flying, or not clear. Kingfisher park lodge is great and Carol is an excellent guide. She knows which bird is when and where. And she knows what we wants. Thank you v very much Carol, it was really a wonderful day.
 

12/2 近場で鳥見。 Spent near the lodge.

　朝一で出かけたのが前日に教えていただいたお隣の庭。
 

キホオコバシミツスイ（Yellow-faced Honeyeater)です。このブッシュは本当に Honeyeaterに大人気です。In front of the neighbor garden.Yellow-faced Honeyeater

クレナイミツスイ（Scarlet Honeyeater)オスです。Male
 

こちらは ウロコミツスイ　（Brown-backed Honeyeater）. Abattoir Swampで巣を作っていた子です。
 

道を挟んで反対側の草むらではシマコキン（Chestnut-breasted Mannikin)が草の実を食べていました。
 
朝食を食べてその辺りを散策。Had breakfast and go for walk.
 

キアシヒタキ（Pale-Yellow Robin)目のくりっとした実に愛らしい子です。
 

ワライカワセミ（Laughing Kookaburra )これが結構可愛いんです。In the orchard.
 

飛びます。 Going to fly.
 

飛び立ちます。 Flew!
 
部屋に帰って夕食。この日のメニューはカンガルー肉のハンバーグと野菜のスープ。まあまあでした。Dinner menu is Kangaroo meat hamburg and vegetable.

 12月2日はこれでおしまい。
明日はアサートン高原のチェンバーズロッジに移動。
12/2 was over. Next day we will leave for Chambers Wildlife Rainforest Lodge.
 

12/3 チェンバーズロッジに移動

出発前に皆で記念撮影。前列、登志江さん、みどり、秀人。後列、Carol, Andrew。本当に素晴らしい人たち、素晴らしいロッジでした。それにしてもオーストラリアの人は背が高いです。
Move to Chambers Wildlife Rainforest Lodge. Before leaving we took the photo of all. Wonderful lodge and wonderful people. We came back here after 3 days. By the way, Australians are very tall, I suppose, aren't they?

Cairns Birdwatching tour part-2

 

12/3 キングフィッシャーパークロッジを離れて一路アサートン高原へ。
We left Kingfisher Park lodge and headed to Atherton Tableland.
 

途中、ゴルフ場の木陰にたむろすカンガルーを見て、(もちろんお腹の袋に入るのは赤ちゃんです。）
On the way, we saw kangaroos under the shade of the trees at a golf course,, obviously they have baby in their pouch.
 

素晴らしい灌漑設備をあちこちで見て、
saw wonderful irrigation system everywhere,
 

ヤンガーバラの公園の木陰ででお昼を食べました。見上げるとなんとメガネコウライウグイスが。
Ate lunch under a big tree at a park in Yungaburra village. We looked up the tree and found Figbird.
 

さらによく見るとなんと卵を温めていました。
We looked up carefully and realized he or she was warming eggs.
 
この日から3日はエチャム湖畔のチェンバーズロッジ（標高約1000m)に泊まりました。
For three days we stayed at Chambers Wildlife Rainforest Lodges.Altitude is about 1000m.
 

ベランダ、キッチン付きです。流石に朝夕は涼しいです。With veranda and kitchen!
 

ロッジに着くと早速巣作り用の草を運んでいるフヨウチョウを見ました。
As soon as we arrived at the lodge we saw Red-browed Firetail carrying grass to make nest.
 
12/4 この日はアランに1日ガイドをお願いしました。朝６：１５出発です。探鳥の朝は早いです。
We asked Alan, from Alan wildlife tours, to guide us. At 6:15.a.m., like normal birdwatchers, we left very early.
 

最初に行ったのは学校の校庭。大きな木に
First we went to a school yard. In a big tree, there were
 

コウライメガネウグイスのオス。Figbird male,
 

こちらはメス。Figbird female,
 

サンショウクイ。 Barred Cukoo-shrikes
 

そしてイチジクインコ。And double-eyed fig parrot .
 
それからタイワンセッカを見に河原へ。
この子は、日が昇って暑くなると草むらの深いところに隠れてしまうので朝の早い時にしか見られないのだそうです。
　　Then we went to a riverside to see Golden-headed Cisticola. To see them we have to go there early morning, otherwise they will hide deep in the grass, Alan said.
 

 草にはまだ朝露がついていました。We could see the morning dew.
 

こちらはカタアカチドリ。Black-fronted Dotterel
 

朝にの中で、目がキラキラしているのまで間近で見れました。We could see it very closely.
 

この子は河原に行く途中で見たスグロトサカゲリ。Before going to the river we saw Masked Lap-wing
 
さてこの後は、ニワシドリ（芸術的な東屋を作ってメスにアピールする子）がみれるかもしれないというアランの友達の家に行きました。
残念ながら肝心の子は、声はすれど姿は見えずで、代わりにミミグロネコドリや
After that we went to see Alan's friend's house where we possibly see bowerbirds. He was too shay to appear in front of us.
 

シラフミツスイが来ました。 In stead we could see Lewin's Honeyeater and spotted catbirds.
 
次はツリーカンガルーを見にNerada 茶園に。オーストラリアで最も大きな茶園で、敷地内には広大な茶畑があり、一面の緑。
Next we went to Nevada tea farm, the biggest tea farm in Australia. The land was huge, green and beautiful.
 

この茶園の垣根の木にツリーカンガルーがいるらしいのです。アランが探しに行ってくれました。日差しは暑く、もうこの日はダメかと思い出した頃、アランが私たちを呼びました。
This is the place where we might see TREE KANGAROO. Alan went to find them but was difficult. When we almost gave up Alan called us.
 

一心に葉っぱを食べています。でもカンガルーというよりクマみたい。葉が茂っているので尻尾が見えません。
There he is. Finally we met him..or her. Looks like a bear than Kangaroo. Can't see the tail.
 

こちらは顔が...。どの写真もイマイチ。 Can't see the face. It's difficult.
 

この子はオーストラリアイシチドリと言うのだそうです。Bush Stone-curlew
 

よく見ないとわからないのですが、実はこの子は先のメスと交代で卵を温めていました。こちらはオス（？）。この巣は車通りから２mも離れていないところ。私たちがいる間、微動だにしませんでした。
 
It's difficult to see what is in the photo. He(maybe he) is sitting on his nest. Their nest is about less than 2m from the road where cars go, though not many cars. He didn't move at all. So we couldn't get any other pose.
 
この後はハイライトのキンイロニワシドリを見に行きました。この辺りのごく狭い範囲でしか見られない貴重種だそうです。アランが道から外れてジャングルに分け入り、東屋のあるところに連れて行ってくれましたが声ばかり。諦めて一旦車に戻りランチタイム。
After that we went to see GOLDEN BOWERBIRD, which is the hi light of this day. This is a very special bird and we can see only in a specific area, only when we are very lucky. We went to a place and Alan took us into the jungle where there was a bower. It was quite big, more than 1 m, I think. He said he saw it but for us wasn't sure what it was. We went back to our car and had lunch break.

さて一休みしてまたジャングルの中に。ずっと先の方まで降りて行ったアランが手招きしました。居ました。木や蔓が茂っているのでなかなか全体が見えませんがなんとか見える場所を探しました。
Then we tried again. Alan went into the jungle further and finally he found it. We could see it very close, so I have to went back to put him in the camera frame.

最初は背中を。　We saw his back.
 

そして前向き。近すぎてギリギリ。なんてラッキー。多くのBirdwatcherはこの子を見たいがために彼を指名するのだそうです。Then front. How lucky we are!!!
 
さてこんななんの目印もない山奥のさらに密林の中、どうやってここを探し当てたのでしょう。
　彼曰く。何人かのガイド仲間とこの地域を区分けし、一区画ごとに平行線を引くようにくまなく歩きます。声が聞こえるとさらに近くを詳しく調べていくのだそうです。それこそ気の遠くなるような努力です。でも最近はブログの写真にGPS情報がついていて場所を特定され、それを頼りに鳥泥棒（？）が来て捕まえてしまうのだそうで、今年だけで５羽ぐらい居なくなり残って居るのはごくわずかだそうです。なんてことでしょう。
By the way, how did Alan find this place? First he divides the map of this area into sectors. Then he picks one sector and walks its entire ground while listening for the particular birdsong. If he doesn't hear it, he moves on to the next sector. If he does hear it, he walks that area again, but in a more fine-grained way, until he is able to locate the bird's exact position. It's very time consuming and I find it really amazing.
 

カオグロミツスイだそうです。キョトンとした可愛い顔なのにとってもアグレッシブなのだそうです。
Noisy Miner. It looked cute but is very aggressive, Alan told me.
 

 さて巨大カーテンフィッグツリーです、がこれを見に来たわけではなくお目当は、
Giant curtain Fig tree, but the reason we came is to see...Wompoo Fruit Dove.

もちろんこの子も卵を温めて居ます。体の下にある小さなお椀のようなのが巣です。暗いところにいるのでなかなかうまく撮れません。Sitting on their nest. The forest was thick and darks it was difficult to take photos.
 
帰る途中、居ました。モリショウビンです。降り始めた雨の中我関せずで木の枝にとまって居ました。On the way back, we saw forest kingfisher. It was quietly sitting on a branch in the rain.

 これでこの日の探鳥はお終い。たくさんの子に会い、しかもかなり近くで写真を撮れました。
This is the end of this day. We met a lot of birds, could take a lot of good and interesting photos and had a wonderful day thanks for Alan.
 

この日の晩ご飯です。カレーライスのサラダ。ロックメロンと超豪華。実はほぼ毎日ご馳走でした。
Dinner. Menu is curry and rice, salad and rock melon. Delicious, of course.
 
12/5
この日は、アランに教えてもらったポイントにクレナイミツスイを見に行きました。普通は鳥見のポイントなど教えてもらえないのですがとても寛容でした。
We went to Lake Barrine to see Scarlet honeyeater. Alan kindly showed us where we will be able to see them.
 

ポイントのバリン湖に向けて出発。Barn for Lake Barrine.
 

バリン湖です。ボートクルーズも出来、湖畔を歩くこともできますが、私たちはこの左手にあるキンポジュ、ブラシの木。
Lake barrine. We can enjoy cruising or walking here but what we are interested in is Bottle brush flower. Why? Because we can see Scarlet Honeyeater.

この木は蝶も来ます。 オオルリアゲハだそうです。色鮮やかですよね。
Butterfly also comes.　It is Ulysses Butterfly, later Alan told me. The color is very vivid, isn't it?
 

 バリン湖とレストハウス。日差しは強烈です。The sun is strong.
 
この後宿に戻ってランチ。またまた豪華ランチです。
We went back to the lodge and had lunch.
 

午後は"Gallo"という酪農製品のお店に。We went to Gallo.
 

ケースいっぱいのチョコレート。試食もできます。We can try chocolate,
 

チーズもたくんさん試食してアイスクリームを買いました。どれもとても美味しかったです。We can try cheese. Icecream was delicious.
 

この日の最後はミラミラの滝。ここの行き方がわからなくて、近くにいるらしいんだけどいまいち行きつけません。誰かに聴きたくても人っ子一人いません。やっと見つけた何かの工事のトラックの人に道を聞くと、先導してくれるというので付いていきやっとたどり着けました。
The last place we went was Millaa Millaa Falls. It was very difficult to reach this place. We came near but couldn't find it. We wanted to ask but nobody was there. Luckily a truck came. They kindly leaded us to the street to go to the fall.
 
またまた良い１日でした。We had another wonderful day.
 

12/6 この日は私たちはキングフィッシャーパークへ。登志恵さんはポートダグラスへ。
This day, we are going back to Kingfishers park lodge and Toshie will go to Portdouglas.

こちらはイーチャム湖です。水は冷たそうでしたが泳ぎに来る人は多そうです。
Lake Echam. The water is not warm but people come to swim.

その３を書き終わってからと思っていたのに間に合わなくて、今はトリニダード島です。こちらは思ったより暑くなくて助かっています。
トリニダードの旅編は、オーストラリアが終わってからボツボツあげていきます。
I had thought I could finish all before we leave Japan, bug....now we are in Trinidad. The wether isn't so hot. I will write about Trinidad next.
 

12/6 再びキングフィッシャーパークに戻りました。
We went back to Kingfisher Park Lodge.
 
12/7 午前中、ロッジでブラブラ。
We spent wondering around the lodge garden in the morning.
 

ロッジの台所。広くて使いやすかったです。　 Kitchen in the lodge. Wide and convenient.
 

こちらは部屋の方です。この左手にもう一つベッドがあって物置に便利でした。
 

部屋の裏手のドアの前にいました。キンバトです。
When we open the door, Emerald Dove was there.
 

ベニカノコバト。この子も庭にいました。
Bar Soulderd Dove。
 

ヒジリショウビン。ロッジの果樹園の先の河原で盛んに魚を取っていました。
Sacred kingfisher. Catching fish in the river near the orchard.
 

メジロですが体が灰色で、その名もハイイロメジロ。
Silvereye
 

 メンガタカササギビタキ。すごい名前です。　Spectacled Monarch.
 

この子もロッジの敷地内でたくさん見られます。We can see them in the garden of the Lodge.
 

ベニフウキンチョウ。この子もスズメのごとくたくんさんいます。
Red-browed Faretail. We also can see them a lot in the garden.
 

オナガテリカラスモドキ。近くの公園に見事にたくさんいます。ギャオギャオかなりうるさいです。
Metallic Starlings.There are a log in the park next to the lodge. Very noisy.
 

まるで木全部が巣です。Nest, nest, and nest.
 

これはお隣の庭の前にあるHoneyeater が大好きな花で、いつも誰かが来ています。キミミミツスイ。
Lewin's Honeyeater　At the neighbours garden.
 

シラフミツスイ。同じ花です。Macleay's Honeyeater.The same flower.
 

ゆっくりお昼を食べて、アバター湿原にウロコミツスイの巣を見に行きました。巣があるのはこんなところです。
After eating lunch, we went to Abattoir Swamp to see the nest of Brown-backed Honeyeater.
 

これが巣とその持ち主です。The nst and the owner.
 

せっせと餌を運びます。Feeding their baby.
 

 赤ちゃんは２羽のようです。There are two babies in the nest.
 

交代で餌を運び、フンを運び出します。Mother and father carry the food and carry the dropping of the baby out of the nest.

ケアンズ探鳥の旅　　　　　Birdwatching tour in Cairns.

ケアンズ探鳥の旅その３ の２、本当の最終編です。前回途中までアップして[また明日]と言いながらもう一週間が経ってしまいましたので、その３のその２としました。
I'm still in Trinidad and struggling with thousands and thousands photos we have taken. So already a week has passed since I said "I will write tomorrow. Now I will definitely finish this page
 

12/8 ちょっと遠いですが、ハチクイのポイントまで行くことにしました。
　We decided to go to the point where we can see Rainbow Bee Eater.
 

早朝出発。まだ日が昇っていませんでした。 We left before the sunrise.
 

そして日の出。 Sunrise.
 

早朝のドライブです。　Drive in the morning sun light.
 

いました。ハチクイ。細い尾があるのでオスです。
Rainbow Be Eater. Male, because it has needle-like long tail
 

こちらはメスです。朝日を浴びてなかなか綺麗です。
Female. Red eye and rainbow color is really beautiful.
 

カノコスズメというのだそうです。ハチクイより小さめです。Double Barred Finch, a bit smaller than Bee Eater.
 

ハチクイです。お気に入りの木の枝に止まって、虫を採りに行きます。
Rainbow Bee Eater. They stay at a branch they like and go to catch insects.
 

 帰り道、Granite Gorge,（ 花崗岩の谷、とでもいうのでしょうか、）をみて、
On the way back, we visited Granite Gorge.
 

 オーストラリア名物のシロアリの巣です。Termite Nest.
 
 

12/9この日はもうケアンズに移動。早朝、カワセミのいた沼地に行って見ました。
　　We are going back to Cairns on this day. Early morning we wen t to the swamp where we saw little kingfisher before.
 

朝もやの中で。Everything was beautiful in the early morning light.
 

 おなじみのベニフウキンチョウ Red-browed Faretail
 

メガネコウライウグイス　Figbird.
 

 モリショウビン　Forest Kingfisher.
 

 キアシヒタキ　地味な子ですがとても愛らしいです。 Pale-yellow robin
 
朝の探鳥を終えて、出かけようとしたらこんな子が挨拶に来ました。
before we leave, this boy came to say goodbye.
 

 ケアンズに行く途中の海岸でランチ。下界に降りると日向に出られないくらいの暑さです。海岸にはワニ注意の看板がありました。
On the way to Cairns, we had lunch. It was so hot and the sun light was so strong as we felt as if we were burnt!!!.
There was a signboard on which written "Be careful for crocodile. "
 
２時過ぎにケアンズのホテルにチェックイン。カワセミがいるかもしれないという公園に出かけて見ました。カワセミは見ませんでしたが、こんな子たちに会いました。
We checked in a hotel in Cairns. Then went to a park near the botanic garden where we heard we might be able to see kingfishers. It didn't happened but it was a nice relaxing place.
 

 この日は登志江さんと落ち合って夜はSushi Trainという回転寿司へ。実は海外ではよく日本で考えられないような巻き寿司だ出てくるのでそれが楽しみでよ行くのですが、ここは経営者も働いておる人も全て日本人で、特に珍しいものはありませんでした。
This evening we met Toshie and went to a Sushi Bar. We often we to a Sushi bar in foreign country because sometimes they prepare something unthinkable for us and very interesting. This bar was run by Japanese so it was like Japanese Sushi bar, nothing special.
 

ケアンズの空港で。At Cairns Airport.
 

ここはどのあたりでしょうか。飛び立って間も無くです。Where is this place?? Just after taking off.
 

こちらはパプアニューギニアのようです。This will be Papua New Guinea.
 
実はケアンズでこんなにたくさん鳥たちに、しかも簡単に出会えるとは思って見ませんでした。もちろんガイドが良かったのでしょう。とても良い旅でした。長い間読んでくださってありがとうごいましが。
　次回は今滞在しているトリニダードとトバゴ島、そしてジャマイカです。また是非是非お尋ねください。ありがとうございました。
We hadn't expected to be able to see so many birds, mostly because we met a wonderful guides and we were lucky. It was a great days. Thank you very much visiting us. Next I will upload the travel in Trinidad & Tobago where I am writing now. It will be interesting so please visit us again.
