北海道　旭川からサロマ湖まで　　Visiting Hokkaido, from Asahikawa to Lake Saroma.
 

 

　
一足早く北海道に紅葉を見に行って来ました。早い便がとれなかったので最終便で旭川へ。７時着。東京を出るときはこの日は特に暑くてTシャツだったので、空港に着いた途端持っていた服を全部着ました。空港で車をを借りて旭岳温泉に着いたのは旭岳温泉に着いたのは８時半でした。
 
We went to see Autumn leaves. Hokkaido is a place where we can see Autumn leaves earlier than any other place in Japan.
We went to Asahikawa by the last flight.　When we leave Tokyo, it was very hot and we were wearing T shirts so immediately we wore all clothes we had when we arrive at Asahilkawa. We rent a car and arrived at Asahidake Hotsprins around 8:30.
 
26日朝、小雨交じりの曇り。ロープウェイロープウェイ乗り場に行くと、黒板に上の駅の天気が書いてありました。曇、気温5度。
上に着くと視界はほぼゼロ。小雨。手が凍えそうに冷たかったですが、もしかして晴れるかもしれないとかすかな望みの元に歩き始めました。天気予報ではこの日は晴れでした。
 
Morning of the 26th. It was raining a little and of course, was cold. We went to the ropeway station. On a board there was information of the upper station. It said the visibility is zero. The themperature is 5 degree. Acording to the wether forecast it should be fine. So expecting it will be fine, we went up and started to walk.
 

This is the map of nature watching tracking course where we went.
 
右回り姿見の池方面に。視界はなかったですが足元には高山植物が赤や白の実を付け、チングルマの葉の紅葉が雨に濡れて色鮮やかでした。ちなみにこの時期はこんな植物が見られるそうです。
 
While we were walking we child see some alpine plants with its seeds or fruits.

姿見の池に着いてもほとんど真っ白。時々風で雲が飛ばされると、湖とその後ろの噴煙が見えました。
 
We arrived at Sugatani Pond but we couldn't see almost anything. Sometime wind blew out the cloud and we could see the pond and smoke of the volcano, Mt Asahidake.
 

しばらくすると少し雲が切れてきました。雲の切れ間に見えた山肌には降ったばかりの雪が。
 
Meanwhile the cloud disappeared little by little and we could see the cliff of the mountain with new snow.
 

もしかしたらもう少し晴れて旭岳が見られるかもしれないと、散歩がてら登山道を少し登ってみることにしました。黒い雨雲が低く垂れ込めていましたが遠くは晴れていました。
Expecting we might be able to see Mt. Asahidake, e decide to go up the tracking rout. The cloud was low and dark but it was fine on the low land.
 

本当に少しづつ雲が上がり時折日が射しました。
Gradually the wether got better and sunshine came from time to time.
 

なんと青空です。もちろんすぐ曇りました。
Blue sky! Then closed again.
 
 

旭岳のゴツゴツした山肌が見えます。積もったばかりの雪が白く綺麗です。だんだん道が険しくなってっきたのでこの辺りで引き返しました。
The new snow is white and beautiful. We decided to go back since the rout became tougher and tougher.
 

下って行くと姿見の池が見えました。ちょっと見にくいですが後ろの方にロープウェイの駅も見えます。
We could see Sugatani Pond below. Also could see the rope way station where we started to walk.
 

湖畔でお昼を食べているとどんどん晴れ間が広がってきました。もしかしたら山頂が見られるかもしれません。
While we were having lunch at the side of the pond, the wether got better and better. We expect that we might be able to see the mountain top.
 

とうとう雲が切れました。白いのは旭岳の噴煙です。
Finally we saw it. White stuff is not could. It's smoke of the volcano.
 

散策コースをぐるっと歩いて鏡池とすり鉢池を見渡せるところに来ました。もうこのころは天気予報通り晴れです。
We walked the tracking course and came to Kagami( miller) Pond and Suribachi(mortar) Pond.
The wether was perfect!!!
 

鏡池の湖畔から旭岳です。やっと雲が切れました。

雲が切れたので嬉しくてもう一枚。旭岳が池に映っていました。鏡池ですからね。
The mountain is reflected on the surface of the pond aw the name of the pond shows.
 

こちらはすり鉢池。本当にすり鉢です。また雲が増えて来ました。
This is Suribachi Pond. It really looks like mortar, no?
 

陽を浴びてチングルマが綺麗です。この高原は本当に一面チングルマです。7月にはそれはそれは見事なお花畑になることでしょう。
In this highland there a lot of highland plants. It must be very beautiful in Summer here.
 
この日はここでお終い。
The end of the 26th.
 
27日。前日の天気予報では雨でしたが、なんと朝、日が射していました。ホテルの前から旭岳が見えました。
The 27th. Fine.
 

この宿は山が見える宿だったんですね。
We could see Mt. Asahidake from our hotel. I realized that this hotel has mountain view.
 

早速ロープウェイ早速ロープウェイで再び高原へ。こんな風に山が見えることもやっと今日わかりました。
We went up by the rope way again.
 

乗り場付近は白樺の紅葉が綺麗です。
Autumn leaves are beautiful.
 

上に着くと快晴。旭岳が晴れ晴れと見えました。
The wether was perfect and the view of the mountain was also perfect.
 

天気が良いのでもう一枚。展望台で大きなカメラを持ってビデオ撮影をしていた人は、この具合だとあと１時間で天気は崩れると言っていました。あ～、山の天気ですものね。
Because the wether was fine, another photo. A person who was taking video said "Thinking of the direction of wind and the cloud it will be clouded ion one hour". It was disappointing but it is true that the wether of mountain is changeable.
 

曇る前に美しい鏡池をもう一枚。湖畔の右手の道を歩いて行くと裾合平を通って中岳に行かれます。
Beefier it get clouded one more shot of Kagami Pond.
 

さらにすり鉢池と旭岳をもう一枚。
Suribachi Pond and Asahidake, one more shot.
 

リンドウも咲いていました。結局ずっと晴れでした。こういう予報違いは大歓迎です。
It was fine throughout the day. It was good.
 

山を降りて少し時間があったのでわさび池に。４kmほどの散策コースです。
We had some more time, we went to another short walking course called Wasabi Pond hiking course.
The color of the pond is really like Wasabi.
 
 

ゴゼンタチバナの実がたくさんついていました。
今日はここでお終い。明日は層雲峡に移動します。
This is the end of the 27th. Tomorrow, we will move to Sounkyou.

９月２８日。
旭岳温泉を離れて、大雪山系のほぼ反対側にある層雲峡に移動。直線距離はそうないのですが、山裾をぐるっと回らないといけないのでくるまっで３時間近くかかります。早速銀河流星の滝を見に行きました。
 
9/28. We moved from Asahidake Hot springs to Spunkyo , where there are two famous water falls. We went to see them.
 

綺麗に色づいた葉の向こうに雄大な滝が。銀河の滝です。
Water fall called Ginga、means Galaxy.
 

滝が流れ落ちる先には別の渓流が。紅葉が色づいていました。
 

こちらは流星の滝。
This is another water fall called Ryusei, means shooting star.
 

ここには滝見台なるところがあって、それなりに上ると二つの滝を見ることができます。
There is a lookout. We climbed up to see two water fall together.
 

ここまで来ると下からは一部しか見えなかった滝がよく見えます。雄大でしょう。
This is waterfall " Ginga". From the lookout we can see it much better than from the bottom.
 

層雲峡温泉街の奥には紅葉谷という紅葉の素晴らしいところがあるというので行って見ました。華やかな紅葉も素晴らしかったですが、何と言っても切り立つ岩とそこにしがみつくように生えている木々の紅葉が素晴らしかったです。
The cliffs of Spunky. This place is also famous for these cliffs. They are beautiful especially in Autumn.
 
 

さて肝心の紅葉谷には行かれませんでした。というのも２週間ほど前に山火事が発生し、それがなんとまだ鎮火していないので立ち入り禁止。ヘリで近くに湖から盛んに水を運んでは撒いていました。山火事の原因は落雷らしいです。谷へ向かい入りぐしに消防車が一台と見張りの人が一人。それにその日は役所の人らしい人が２人来ていて説明してくれました。
 

この真下あたりが紅葉谷の終点の滝があるそうです。
 
We had a plan to visit maple tree valley, which is said very beautiful, but it was closed because of the bush fire. 2 weeks ago, it occurred and are not extinguished yet. A helicopter was carrying water from the lake nearby. So we couldn't enter this valley. A fire fighter and a fire engine were there to watch the situation.
 

北海道に来てやっと見つけた鳥です。キセキレイ。この日はこれでおしましい。
The first bird we saw in Hokkaido. This is the end o this day.
 
２９日
この日はいよいよハイライトの高原温泉沼めぐりです。沼めぐりコースはマイカー規制で途中までしか入れないのでシャトルバスに乗り換えました。天気予報では曇りでしたが着くと雨。それでも天気予報を信じて歩き出しました。気温は５度くらいでしょうか。手が痺れそうに冷たかったです。
9/29. We went to marshland hiking. This is one of the highlight of our tour. There are many small pond in a marshland. At this time of the year, it is really beautiful, I had heard. When we arrived at the entrance, it was raining and was very cold, but we decided to go because the weather forecast said it would be cloudy.
 

雲と温泉からの湯気が混ざり合ってなんとも美しい風景でした。

昨年の台風以来右回りコースは閉鎖。行かれるのは左回りで空沼までだそうです。
Since last year one third of the course was closed because the trail was damaged b y the Typhoon. So we could go only to the left.
 

やっとバショウ沼です。
Bashou Numa. Numa means swamp or pond.
 

雨が冷たくて随分遠く感じられました。
The rain was cold and we felt as if we came very far away but it was just the beginning of the course.
 

鴨沼。上の方はもう紅葉は終わっているのでこの辺りが一番綺麗だと言われていましたが本当に素晴らしかったです。
Kamo Numa. Kamo means duck. I don't know why this pond has such name but it was really beautiful.

名もない沼でしたがとても綺麗。
It was a beautiful site but this pond didn't have a name.
 

こちらはエゾ沼。

こちらは式部沼。背景の山の雪と紅葉が実に美しかったです。

大学沼。少し雨が上がって来ました。

大学沼を超えて高原沼へ。

崖の雪はおそらく今日降ったものでしょう。この先にこの沼めぐりで一番高い高原沼があります。
It was snowing at higher place. Kogen Numa is over there.
 

高原沼です。私たちはここで引き返すことにしました。このコースは時間が決められていて、決まった時間になると戻らないといけません。
This is Kogen Numa, the highest pond in this walking course. We decided to go back from here. There is a time limit to go back for the safety of the hiker. If it gets dark, they will be lost and very dangerous.
 

行くときには気づかずに通り過ぎてしまった土俵沼です。雨が降っていたので脇目も振らずに歩いていたのだと新ためて思いました。
Dohyou Numa. When we passed here, we missed it because it was raining a bit heavily and we were focused on walking.
 

戻ってくるとまだ白樺の紅葉が綺麗でした。この後は雪が降り始め、道が滑るので思うように歩けず、時間がかかってしまいましたがなんとか最終バスの一つ前に戻れました。この日はここでおしまい。
After this, it started to snow. The house was slippery but we came back to the first place before the last bus leaves.
 
明日は明日はもし晴れたら黒岳ロープウェイで上に上がります。
Tomorrow, we go up Mt.Kurodake if the weather is fine.

９月３０日。
この日はまず、前日に訪れた紅葉谷に行ってみることにした。山火事はほぼ鎮火したと前日に言っていたので、もしかして立入禁止が解除されているかもしれない...。でもやはりそんなことはなくて禁止のままでした。でもいいお天気で谷のハイキングコース入口までの道も見事な紅葉でした。
 
9/30.
This day we went to the maple valley where we went the day before, expecting the bush fire would be extinguished and the hiking course would be open. Of course it didn't happened.
 

谷の入り口で見張りに立つ消防士です。この日は一人でした。

 
At the entrance of the hiking course, a fire fight was watching the fire.
 
さて、紅葉谷に行かれないことになったので、それでは黒岳に登ってみることにしました。
We decided to go up Mt.Kurodake.
 
 

　ロープウェイの入り口には大雪山の地図があってそれをみると今まで自分たちがどのあたりを回ってきたのかがよくわかりました。ヘリが水を運んでいた大雪湖が右に、初めに行った旭岳温泉が左。そして高原温泉は南の方角でした。なるほどこういう関係だったんですね。
We found a map. From it we realized the location of the places we had visited.
 

ロープウエイで上がっていくと眼下に色づいた層雲峡の岸壁が見えました。

上を見上げると雪を付けた峰々が。一番左の稜線だけ見えているのが桂月岳、凌雲岳。そして頂上が二段になっているのが上川岳だそうです.

黒岳です。ここからさらにリフトに乗って上がります。ちょっとお天気が怪しくなってきました。
This is Mt. Kurodake. From here we go up further by ski lift. The sky gradually got dark.
 

リフトに乗っていると、リンドウの花がまだ咲いているのが見えました。

リフトであがったところは黒岳七合目。ロッジがあるだけで狭いところでした。でもせっかくきたので黒岳カムイの森の道というところを歩いてみることにしました。
 

雪が積もっていて結構道はドロドロでした。
The lift took us the 7th station of the mountain. It was a narrow place. Only a mountain hut was there. So we decided to walk a bit through the forest. Snow was on the rout and the road was really muddy.
 

ここが森の道の終点。雪が降ったり止んだりでともかく寒かったです。
The end o of the walking course. Sometimes a soft sunlight came and it was beautiful though it was very cold.
 

雪が上がると虹が。でもまたすぐに雪が降り始め急いで小屋に逃げ込みました。
It stopped snowing and beautiful rainbow appeared, then started to snow. We rush into the hut there.
 
雪がやむまで一休み....。外は真っ白。でも雪は一向にやむ気配がありません。それどころかリフトで上がってきた人たちがずぶ濡れで、もしくは雪まみれで入ってくるようになりました。そう、リフトですから乗ってしまえばもうどこにも隠れるところはありません。ひたすら上に着くまで、吹雪の中で我慢するほかありません。小屋はずぶ濡れの人たちで超満員。やがて諦めて、一人二人と下山のリフトに乗るべく出て行きました。
We were waiting for the snow stop but it became worse. Tourist covered with snow or soaked by rain came into the hut so soon the hut became full. They came up by lift and there was no way to escape from the blizzard on the lift. How petty! there was no sign of stop snowing so they left one by one in the heavy snow fall.
 
　私たちは急ぐ訳でもないし、吹雪の中でリフトに乗る気にならなかたのでさらに待つこと１時間。ようやく小止みになったので降りることにしました。降りていくと雪は雨になり、やがてそれも止んでなんと日が差してきました。そこで、リフトを降りた後、ロープウェイに乗る前に展望台に上がってみることにしました。
We were not in a hurry so we waited for one more hour, and got on the lift. It almost stop snowing and when we arrived at the bottom point of the lift, beautiful sun appeared. So we went to a look-out before going down.

層雲峡まで降りると見事な青空でした。でも黒岳は雲の中。きっとまだ吹雪いているのでしょう。When we went down to the bottom of the ropeway the sky was perfectly clear. But the top of the mountain was still covered with thick could. So it would be still snowing there.
 
さてこの後は一路この日の宿泊地であるオンネユに向かいます。

北海道　旭川からサロマ湖まで　　Visiting Hokkaido, from Asahikawa to Lake Saroma.

10/1　晴れ
さていよいよ今回の旅の最終目的地のサロマ湖に向かいます。あまり晴れない旅でしたがこの日は朝から快晴。
前日宿泊の温根湯を出て山を下っていくとどこまでも続く平野。道東は牧場などが多いそうで、道はどこまでいってもまっすぐでした。
 
10/1. We headed for Lake Saroma, which is our last destination. On this day, we were blessed by good weather. There are a lot of farms in east part of Hokkaido. The land is flat and the road was straight to the horizon.
 

ひまわり畑です。

こちらは北海道産玉ねぎ。ちょうど収穫の時期のようで、至る所でこうした光景が見られました。もちろんカゴの中はジャガイモのこともあります。
Now is the harvest time for onion. We saw these scenes everywhere.
 

サロマ湖畔ユースホステルです。
Lake Saroma Youth Hostel, which is we are going to stay for three night.
 
サロマ湖畔に着くとまずこの日の宿泊地であるYHに寄って見ました。YHのお父さんが今日はいい天気だから、能取岬に行ってみるといいというので早速向かいました。
The manager, we call him "father" in youth hostel, recommended us to go to cape Notoro, because the weather was fine.
 

オホーツク海に沿って走ると能取岬が見えてきました。白黒の灯台のあるところがそのようです。海岸沿には釣り人が大勢来ていました。
We went along the Sea of Okhotsk and headed for the Cape Notoro. WE could see a black and white light house ahead. It is cape Notoro.
 

能取岬です。kの日は灯台の中の特別公開だったそうですが私たちはもう間に合いませんでした。

能取岬から知床連山がよく見えました。
We went to the edge of the cape and could see the mountain range of Shiretoko.
 

それからサンゴ草の能取湖を訪ねました。遠くに見えるのは海ではなく、能取湖です。
Then we went to the Lake Notoro to see the field of the coral grass.
 

この子はトウネンというのだそうです。湖畔に７、８羽、ちょこちょこ土の中の何かをついばんでいました。
Red-necked Stint We saw 7 or 8 Red-necked Stint eating something in the earth.
 

 

こちらはキアシシギだそうです。確かに足が黄色です。
Gray-tailed Tattler.
 

こちらはムナグロ。胸が黒いからこの名がついたようですが冬羽は黒くないそうです。な～んだ、ですね。
Pacific Golden Plover.
 

真っ赤なサンゴ草の中をちょこちょ子せわしなく歩き回っていました。ごく近くまで全く人を気にしないで歩いてきました。
They walked around among the coral grass. They didn't care about the tourists.
 

日もだいぶ傾いてきましたので帰ることにしました。
The sun going to set. So we decided to go back to the YH>
 

この日の晩ご飯です。実に美味しかったです。この日ではなかったのですが最後の日は何とホタテづくしでした。
Dinner of this day. Ot was really delicious. Lake Saroma is famous for scallop so the dinner of third day, they served us scallop dinner.
10/2 キムアネップ岬とサロマ湖
 

YHがあるのはキムアネップ岬の根元。キムアネップ岬はサロマ湖に突き出た小さな半島。ここにもサンゴ層の群落があるというので行って見ました。
 
12/2 WE heard that there is another field of coral grass in Cape kimuaneppu. So we decided to go.
 

群落というよりあちこちにちらほら。蛇行する川のある風景が綺麗です。
Not yet field but the field with winding river was beautiful.
 

アオサギの群れがサンゴ草の中に。

何かに驚いたのでしょうか、一斉に飛び立ちました。
Suddenly they flew away.
 

こちらはキムアネップ岬から、サロマ湖のアオサギです。
Also Gray Heron.
 
この後サロマ湖に向かいました。 The we headed for a lookout of Lake Saroma.
 

展望台から見たサロマ湖です。右手から細長く突き出しているのがキムアネップ岬です。

サロマ湖、パノラマです。海みたいですがちゃんと細い砂州で仕切られています。
Lake Saroma from the lookout. IT looked like the sea but it's separated from the sea by narrow sandbank.
 
この後、さらにもう一つのサンゴ草の群落地を訪れ、砂州の突端まで行きブラブラして戻りました。この日はここまでです。
After this we went to the end of the sandbank then went back to TH.
 
10/3. 阿寒湖
この日はちょっと遠出して阿寒湖へ。
10/3 We went to lake Akan, which is a bit far away from YH.
 

湖畔からちょっと入ったところにこんなお土産物屋さんがありました。

阿寒湖から弟子屈湖に向かう意中。双湖台から見た湖ペンケトー。

双岳台から見た雄阿寒岳。だんだん薄暗くなってきました。なんとか６時半の食事の時間までにYHに帰り着きました。

the YH around 6:30, which was just the dinner time.
 
10/4 網走、トウフツ湖、斜里を通って中標津空港へ。
 
今日で北海道ともお別れ。本当は女満別空港から帰りたかったのですがチケットが取れなくて中標津まで行くこととなりました。
10/4 The last day in Hokkaido. We headed for Nakashibetsu airport.
 

オホーツクの海です。遠くに見えるのが知床の山々です。
The Sea of Okhotsk. We can see the mountain range of Shiretoko.
 

手前の草原は小清水原生花園。夏にはハマナスや様々な花が咲き乱れるそうです。
The Sea of Okhotsk and Koshimizu Natural Field. In summer we can see a lot of the flowers of Japanese Rose.
 
 

こちらは小清水原生花園のお向かいにあるトウフツ湖です。
Lake Tofutsu.
 

小清水原生花園のハマナスの赤い実が鮮やかでした。
The fruits of Japanese Rose.
 

こちらは原生花園駅。オシャレな駅にちょうど電車が入ってきました。
This is the Genseikaen Station. train come once every hour.
 

そして通り過ぎて行きました。降りる人も乗る人もいませんでした。でも夏は随分にぎわうようです。
Then went away. Nobody got off nor got on, but in summer this place is very popular, I imagine.
