昨年９月に続き、北海道の旅です。今回も行き先は旭岳温泉と道東の原生花園を訪ねます。
朝一、６時５０分の羽田発で一路旭川へ。ここでレンタカーを借りて旭岳温泉へ。
We visited Hokkaido again. Our destinations are Asahidake Onsen, in the center of Hokkaido, and Wild flower reserves in East part of Hokkaido. We flew to Asahikawa Airport in the early morning, rented a car and headed for Asahidake Onsen, hot springs.
１０時半には着いたのですがお天気はあいにく小雨。寒いこと寒いこと。山は全く見えません。ちょっと迷いましたが雨が上がることもあると思い、ケーブルで姿見駅まで上がってみることにしました。フリースを着てダウンジャケットと雨具を持ちました。
We arrived at Asahidake hot springs at 10:30. It was raining lightly and was freezing cold. We couldn't see the mountain from there at all but we decided to go up by ropeway expecting it might stop raining.
ロープウエイで標高１６００mの姿見駅へ。時々山が見えました。
We went up to Sugatani Station(1600m) by ropeway. We could see Mt. Asahi sometimes, but mostly whiteout.
今回の旅の目的は、この旭岳でノゴマとギンザンマシコを見ること。ロープウエイでを降りて駅の外に出るとほぼ真っ白。防寒具と雨具を着て、まあ晴れることもあると歩き始めました。
雨に濡れる高山植物を見ながらとりあえず第一展望台へ。
Our purpose of this travel is to see Pine Grosbeak and Siberian Rubythroat here. When we got off the ropeway, it was almost white by the fog. Thinking of the possibility of fine weather later we started to walk wearing rain gear and down jacket towards the first observatory looking at the flowers of alpine plants.

おなじみチングルマです。
Chinguruma. Very popular flower for hikers but we can see them only very limited area in high mountains. It's very exciting to be able to see them.
道の両側はハイマツ。そしてハイマツの少し先は霧でまっ白。カメラを持った方に会ったので聞くとギンザンマシコは第３展望台のあたりが良さそうとのこと。
そちらに移動すると、この悪天候の中なんと撮影に来るていられる方がいました。初めての場所はどこで待てば良いのか心配ですがこれで一安心。きっとこの辺りでいいのですしょう。時々霧が薄くなって少し遠くまで見え、時々ギンザンマシコのメスを遠くに見ました。待つこと３時間。突然目の前に、真っ赤な大きな鳥が現れました。ギンザンマシコオスです。思っていたより大きくて近かったので、全身が入りませんでした。
Both sides of the trail were covered creating pine. And creating pine soon desapegares in the white screen. Fortunately we met a man with big camera so we asked him about the bird. He said he saw it at the third observatory. So we headed for there. Surprisingly there were two waiting for the Pine Grosbeak, which we can see only in this area in Japan, in this weather.We were very much relieved to see them, because it meant this is the right place to wait.
Sometimes the fog became thinner and we could see female Pine Grosbeak far away. After waiting for more than three hours, suddenly a big red bird appeared in front of us.This is absolutely Pine Grosbeak, male. It was bigger than I had expected, so I couldn't put the whole bird in the photo.
霧も濃くなったので翌日に期待してこの日はこれでお終いにしました。とりあえずギンザンマシコ会えました。
Th fog became thick again so we went back to the hotel. Any way we could see the Pine Grosbeak. It was a good start.
翌日は晴れたので、鳥を待ちながら辺りを散策しました。
The next day it was fine so I explored the area and enjoyed the beautiful scenery looking at the flowers.
第３展望台のすぐ近くのすりばち池です。
This is Suribachi Pond. The name came from that the shape of the pond is like a mortar. Located very near the third observatory.
こちらは第３展望台の少し先の鏡池です。右の火山が標高２２９１mの旭岳です。
This is Kagami Pond. Kagami mean mirror. The surface can reflect Mt, Asahi when the wind is calm. The volcano behind is Asahidake, Mt.Asahi.
こちらはコエゾノツガザクラ。エゾノツガザクラより花がふっくらしているそうです。
This is Ko-Ezo-no-tsugazakura. The flower is more round and color is paler than Ezo-no-tsugazakura.
鏡池です。後が旭岳。
Again Kagami Pond
こちらは右が鏡池、左がすりばち池。合わせて夫婦池だそうです。第３展望台を通り過ぎて坂を上って振り向いたところです。左の矢印の小高いところが私たちが４日間通った第３展望台です。
The right is Kagami Pond. The left is Suribachi Pond. Together called Moto pond, which means husband and wife. And the place the red arrow shows is the third observatory where we visited for 4 days to see birds.
散策路をさらに進んでいくと、エゾノツガザクラの群生と旭岳。
Ezo-no-tsugazakura and Asahidake.
チングルマとコエゾノツガザクラです。

雪の上をよく見るとキタキツネが。
You can see Ezo Red Fox on the snow.
エゾノツガザクラはいたるところで花盛り。
Ezo-no-tsugazakura was full- blooming everywhere.
チングルマは期待していたより少なかったです。一面のチングルマの花畑を見たかったのですが６月に雪が３回も降ったので花はものすごく遅れていているそうです。残念です。
We couldn't see a lot of Chinguruma, our dream flower to see, unfortunately. This year they had snow three times in June so the season of flower is very delayed. Usually they should have been full blooming in July.
本当ならここは一面チングルマの花だったはずなのですが......。
This field should've been cover with the Chinguruma Flowers, but...
第３展望台でギンザンマシコを待つ人々。待つのが全く苦にならないほど素晴らしいローケーションでした。

結構大胆に近くまで来ます。ほぼノートリです。
It cames very close.They actually don't care much about us as far as we keep quiet.
この赤い実、多分昨年実ったイワウメの実、が大好きで食べにくるようです。この草の絨毯の中にたくさん埋もれているようです。
He likes this red fruits which ripened last autumn and hidden under the grass carpet. Probably Bilberry?
ヒメイソツツジの中を行くメス。
ショウジョウバカマ。随分と紫の濃い花でした。
こちらはハクサンチドリ。これも色鮮やかでした。
最後に第一展望台からの旭岳です。

ここに来たもう一つの目的はノゴマ。この時期ならどこにでもいると言われて来たのですが......、結局ここではノゴマの写真は撮れませんでした。声も聞いたし、遠くで何度か見ましたが赤い喉でかろうじてそれとわかる程度。とても写真にはなりませんでした。
出会った方達に、きっと道東に行けば見られるよと優しい言葉をいただいて旭岳の撮影を終了しました。
Unfoutunalely we couldn't take any good photos of Siberian Rubythroat. We could hear the noise and could see them far away but no good photos. We were told that it would be difficult to see Pine Grosbeak but while waiting for it we could see Siberian Rubythroat here and there, but it didn't happened. People we met there all kindly told us that we could easily see Siberian Rubythroat in the east part of Hokkaido where we are going to next. Believing it we finished photographing in Asahidake..
